With targeted innovations in transport and warehousing, we always want to be one step ahead. Our innovation projects often aim to improve our carbon footprint. However, the focus is also on improving our own processes and boosting efficiency.
Ansorge has relied on intermodal road-rail transport for many years. This not only saves 80–100% of the carbon emissions of the transport in the main leg but also relieves the road infrastructure. Sectoral driving bans or high tolls can be avoided by shifting freight traffic to rail, particularly on sensitive routes such as the Alpine transit route.
For our drivers, the concept means an improved work-life balance since classic long-distance trips can more often be scheduled as day trips through the use of combined transport.
Ansorge has been operating its own PV installations for over 10 years. The latest addition to PV technology was installed in a new building in Biessenhofen in 2022. In 2023, the site was converted into an intelligently networked electricity site with charging stations for cars and trucks.
Buffer storage ensures that sufficient self-produced energy is also available in the evening hours. The concept ensures that the PV installations can be used to charge the company’s own electric trucks with green Ansorge electricity. This is an important next step towards the zero-emission supply chain of the future.
In 2012, Ansorge took part in the nationwide field trial for testing long truck combinations. Ansorge is the first company in Germany to use these vehicles from the start. The company relies on the Type 3 long truck. The reason for using longer truck combinations lies in the increased loading volume of the vehicles: 3 truck journeys could be reduced to 2 journeys in the future. This leads to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and a more efficient use of our drivers who are a valuable resource.
In 2019, Ansorge decided to purchase LNG trucks.
As an ecological alternative to conventional fuels such as petrol and diesel, the LNG truck has numerous advantages:
Up to 50% less noise generation
80 to 90% fewer NOx emissions
70% CO reduction
25% CO₂ savings
with regionally produced LNG from biogas up to 80% CO₂ reduction.
Since 2022, Ansorge has been refueling the LNG trucks in customer-specific projects with Bio-LNG.
Ansorge has been dealing with electromobility in the heavy-duty sector since 2015. Due to the lack of battery-powered trucks in the large weight class (40 or 44 tons total permitted weight) at the time, Ansorge decided to develop its own prototype. Together with regional specialists and thanks to the support of a large OEM and the Free State of Bavaria, a conventional diesel semi-truck is being converted into a BEV vehicle.
In 2018, the vehicle was finally presented to the public at the Commercial Vehicles fair “IAA” in Hanover. More vehicles are currently under construction.
In 2023, a total of 9 fully electric Volvo FH will be added to the fleet.
